Our Story
Welfare Farms™ emerges as a visionary initiative inspired by the career and commitment
of its founder, animal scientist and livestock production engineer Lorena Ruth Caraballo Trujillo,
who brings over 30 years of experience leading livestock transformation processes across Latin
America. Her journey blends the technical management of multispecies production units,
leadership in animal welfare projects, the design of rotational grazing systems, and the
implementation of sustainable strategies proven to enhance profitability, operational
efficiency, and animal health.
Motivated by the challenges and opportunities of the U.S. agricultural sector, Lorena developed a
consulting model that places animal welfare at the core of productivity and sustainability.
This initiative, supported by scientific evidence and professional recognition in her home
country, is now projected as a strategic response to growing U.S. market demands for more
ethical, resilient, and competitive practices.
Welfare Farms™ is not the product of improvisation, but the natural evolution of a career
devoted to transforming agriculture from within. Through pilot programs in Latin America and a
strong academic background—including an MBA, a specialization in research methodology, and ongoing
doctoral studies in economics and management—Lorena has built an action plan tailored to the real
conditions of U.S. producers.
Now based in Florida and building partnerships with producers, academics, and sector experts,
Welfare Farms™ is preparing to launch operations in key U.S. livestock states, offering
specialized solutions for pigs, beef and dairy cattle, sheep, poultry, and horses.
Our story is just beginning, yet it is rooted in decades of experience, a clear vision for the
future, and an unwavering commitment to animal welfare as the path to a more just, profitable,
and sustainable production system.
